The role of the office is changing. No longer a place to show up for heads down work, the evolution was already under way when the pandemic hit. Now, it has gone into overdrive.

Long gone are the cube farms and sterile fluorescent lighting. Even seemingly cutting edge pre-pandemic designs are no longer enough to bring employees into the office. After all, the commute is real.

People want more. Outdoor space, greenery, and a variety of spaces to accommodate different activities and work styles; amenities more at home in a luxury hotel; and technology to make everything from room reservations to virtual calls seamless and actually not a miserable experience.

So what does the office of the future look like? Two leading architects share their thoughts and ideas.
